In Mac OS X, you can connect to Indiana University'sExchange server with the Contacts (OS X 10.8 and later) or AddressBook (OS X 10.7 and before) application. Once connected, applicationsthat use this data (e.g., Mac OS X Mail) can look up namesand email addresses in the Global Address List (GAL). Youcan also search directly from the Contacts or Address Bookapplication.

Contacts and Address Book configuration
To search the Global Address List with Contacts or Address Book, youmust have a Microsoft Exchange account.
Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)
- Open the Contacts application. Normally, it will be in the
Applications
folder. - From the Contacts menu, select Preferences...
- At the top the resulting window, click the Accounts tab.
- Click the + (plus sign) to add a new account.
- In the sheet that drops down, click the button next toExchange, and then click Continue.
- In the next sheet, configure the settings as follows:
Name: Enter your name. Email address: Enter your primary IU email address (e.g.,[email protected]
or[email protected]
)Password:
Once you've entered all your information, click Continue. - Confirm your information is correct in the Account Summary, and thenclick Continue.
- In the next sheet, you'll be given the option to add your Exchangesettings to other applications. When you're finished, clickDone.
Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and 10.7 (Lion)
- Open the Contacts (10.8) or Address Book (10.7 and 10.6)application. Normally, these will be located in your
Applications
folder. - From the Contacts or Address Book menu, selectPreferences...
- At the top of the resulting window, click the Accountstab.
- Click the + (plus sign) to add a new account. In thesheet that drops down, configure the settings as follows:
Account type: Select Exchange (10.8 and 10.7) orExchange 2007 (10.6).Full name: Enter your name. Email address: Enter your IU email address (e.g.,[email protected]

Once you've entered all your information, click Create. - Confirm your information is correct in the Account Summary. If youdon't want to add your Exchange settings to iCal and Mail, uncheck theappropriate boxes. Then, click Create.
Mail configuration (10.8 and earlier only)

- Open OS X Mail, and from the Mail menu, selectPreferences...
- In the toolbar at the top of the window, click Composing.
- Make sure Automatically complete addresses is checked.
When you compose a new email message, as you type in names oraddresses in the addressing fields, Mail will attempt to complete themusing the GAL. Windows 10 default cursor download mac.

The Global Address Book can be accessed through the Outlook Desktop Client. It must be set up at your computer.
Accessing the Global Address Book
- Open the Address Book in the top right-hand corner.
- Use the shortcut key combination Crtl-Shift-b
There are two basic Global Address Lists:
- Offline Global Address List: this is the default and primary address list
- Global Address List: this contains the latest updates, but it must be manually selected.

- Click File, afterwards click Account Settings, then Download Address Book
- Check the Download changes since last Send/Receive box is checked off, in Offline Address Book dialog box.
- Click OK.
- The Outlook Global Address Book is now up to date.

Updating the Global Address Book in Mac OS
Outlook 2011 does not use Exchange cached mode and connects to the Global Address Book by LDAP connection. It will update every time Send/Receive is clicked.
Identifying Shared Resources at a Glance
- Shared Mailbox: “Department – Mailbox Name”
- Shared Calendar: ”~Department – Calendar Name”
- Distribution List: Same display name format as mailboxes, but preceded with a multi-person icon.
- Clicking on a distribution list (distribution group) will pull up information about it, such as membership.
